ALICIA MALONEY is a Philadelphia-based oboist and English horn player. She recently completed 450 shows throughout the US and Canada on the North American tour of Les Miserables.
Other orchestral engagements include performances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Washington National Opera, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, the American Pops Orchestra, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, Artosphere Festival Orchestra, and Allentown Symphony Orchestra, among many others. She has made solo appearances with the Bach in Baltimore concert series on Bach’s D Minor Oboe Concerto and the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra with a “superb rendition” of Gabriel’s Oboe (Royal Gazette).
As a chamber musician, Maloney has appeared in recital series across the country and at the Fischoff, Plowman, and Astral Artists’ Competitions. She was formerly a member of the New Bedford Symphony’s “Learning in Concert” series, bringing chamber music performances to over 50 elementary schools across Southeast Massachusetts, and has been a guest oboist with the acclaimed quintet WindSync in both recital and outreach concerts. Her playing can be heard on the Navona Record Label with the Arcadian Winds and several video game soundtracks, including Final Fantasy XV.
A devoted educator, Maloney has been faculty in residence at the Escuela Municipal de Bellas Arts in Mexico and the Bi-National Youth Orchestra of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and served several years on the chamber music faculty of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras and Boston University Music Organizations. She was a Presser Scholar at Boston University, where she earned a dual degree in performance and music education as a student of Mark McEwen and Robert Sheena of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she was mentored by Alex Klein for several years at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada.
